A new target for the coin: the NFL experts at ESPN. Given that there seems to be a great deal of talent disparity in the NFL, this league will probably not be one of THE COIN’s strong suits. But remember, THE COIN has no fear. Because it is emotionless. Except for its crush on the L200 italiana lira, which is inexplicable, just like the nature of water, or birds.

Unfortunately, random.org is down at the moment, so the predictions were made with an actual coin (a lowly American penny). Perhaps it is fitting that an American coin should predict an American sport. We’ll see how it does before we decide whether to discard it against a random pedestrian’s forehead.

Rant: Why I Don’t Own a TV

Today, I accidentally caught some talking head show on ESPN on TV between two of the biggest morons, Stephen A. Smith and Skip whatever-his-name-is. They were debating, get this…

Is ARod Now a True Yankee?

I am glad it was on mute and I didn’t actually have to hear the nonsense.

EPL 07/08: Week 4 Results

For an introduction, please see about, characters and methodology.

Barclays Premier League 2007/2008 | Week 4 Results

Match Lawro (BBC) THE COIN Actual
Bolton v Everton (Draw) (Draw) Everton
Fulham v Tottenham Tottenham (Draw) (Draw)
Liverpool v Derby Liverpool (Draw) Liverpool
Middlesbrough v Birmingham Middlesbrough Middlesbrough Middlesbrough
Newcastle v Wigan Newcastle Wigan Newcastle
Reading v West Ham (Draw) West Ham West Ham
Man Utd v Sunderland Man Utd (Draw) Man Utd
Arsenal v Portsmouth Arsenal Portsmouth Arsenal
Blackburn v Man City Blackburn Blackburn Blackburn
Aston Villa v Chelsea Chelsea (Draw) Aston Villa
Success 6/10 4/10
Cumulative 25/47 18/47

Oh no! Lawro is starting to pull away, in terms of prediction accuracy percentage ™. Still, a lot of his points are on the easy matches, like ones involving the big four (but who could have predicted the Chelsea one this week). I don’t know. Using things like ‘knowledge’ seems a bit like cheating to me. THE COIN doesn’t need that.
